The museum used to be the residence of Floro “Flor” Crisologo and his family. The Crisologo clan is one of the principal families of Vigan and Flor Crisologo was a congressman who worked towards the ratification of the Tobacco Law and the establishment of the Social Security System. On October 18, 1970, Crisologo was standing in a communion line in the Vigan Cathedral when a lone gunman entered and shot him in the head. The assassin escaped during the panic that ensued and the murder remains unsolved to this day, but it is generally believed to have been politically motivated.
In memory of Crisologo, his family turned his ancestral home into a museum which maintains the statesman’s memorabilia.

Old Vigan Colonial Houses – the ancestral houses were built mostly by rich Chinese traders. These great big houses are made of thick brick walls and plastering with red clay. Tile roofs are made to survive earthquakes. The Mestizo district where more than a hundred houses line side by side along Calle Crisologo.
How to Get to Calle Crisologo, Vigan Ilocos
Vigan City, where Calle Crisologo is located, lies 400 km from the capital city of Manila. You can take the 10-hour bus ride to Vigan, or take a 1-hour plane ride to Laoag City, which is the capital of its neighbouring province of Ilocos Norte. From here, you can reach Vigan via a bus ride (1 ½-hour trip). From the bus terminal, a tricycle will take you to Calle Crisologo.
The best time of the year to visit Vigan City is during the cooler months of June till January. During the summer months of April and May, it is so blazing hot that you may find it spoils the enjoyment of your holiday.
